Our Challenges

Financial Instability is Impacting Student Learning

ISD 622 is working to educate students with significantly less funding than the districts around it, and that gap is now affecting classrooms.

State funding has not kept pace with inflation for nearly 20 years, and unfunded state mandates have forced the district to do more with less. Over the past three years, ISD 622 has absorbed more than $15 million in budget cuts, which has led to fewer resources for students and rising pressure on class sizes. The district also receives about $1,042 per pupil in voter-approved operating revenue, the lowest amount among its neighboring districts, whose funding ranges from roughly $2,004 to $2,855 per pupil. Despite these funding challenges, our district manages our budget responsibly and our students achieve strong educational outcomes. Additional funding would better support the positive momentum and inspiring results in our classrooms.
